Bloodstone: improve the circulation of your healing energy

Bloodstone is a fascinating gemstone found primarily in India, Brazil, China, Australia, and the US. Its name comes from the red streaks of color found amongst the dark green body of the stone (though Bloodstone is also known as Heliptrope). In Christian folklore, Bloodstone is said to have been created when the blood of Christ ran from his body onto the stones below as he hung on the cross.

Bloodstone is known to increase the body's circulation of energy, balancing the base, navel, sacral, and heart chakras. It promotes healing and the strengthening of the immune system.

Bloodstone also promotes courage in the face of change, showing the owner the benefits of the "pain period", the period of intense effort and reorganization which is often necessary to improve ourselves and correct our behaviors.

If you need defense against infection, or are doubting the utility of your efforts, Bloodstone may be a special addition to your collection.

Amazonite: a soothing stone that relieves fear and anxiety.

Amazonite is a gem found most commonly in Brazil, but also in Colorado, Eastern Canada, Italy, and Russia. It is named after the Amazon Basin because of its prominence in Brazil, though it is actually not found in that particular part of Brazil.

Amazonite is primarily known for having a soothing effect on the brain and nervous system. The result is relief of fear and anxiety, and an increase in courage. It is also believed to bring happiness to married life, presumably because your personal anxiety harms your relationships with others.

Amzonite is also believed to be good for your skin. We all know from experience that anxiety can cause outbreaks and accelerate the ageing process, but Amazonite relieves that anxiety.

If you are a person who's too high-strung, overly nervous, and prone to stress, Amazonite may be an important gem for you.

Tiger Eye: brings focus and confidence

Tiger Eye is a beautiful stone whose name comes from its resemblance to the eye of a tiger. It is found primarily in South Africa.

Tiger Eye is useful in relieving high blood pressure, and helping bronchial asthma, rheumatic heart disease, otitis, and psoriasis. It also has benefits for the weak and sick.

Tiger Eye's primary mystical property is that it provides mental focus and confidence. It helps you face and overcome difficult challenges and stick to your plans, despite discouraging setbacks. For this reason it is sometimes marketed as a gem that brings professional and financial success. It is also believed to protect you during your travels, because the mental focus keeps you aware of the dangers of your new surroundings and take appropriate cautions. For the same reason, Roman soldiers used to wear Tiger Eye for protection during battle.

If you have the habit of giving up and backing down from your fears, and of being easily distracted from what's important, maybe Tiger Eye is the gem for you.

Moonstone: helps you maintain control over your emotions while not repressing them

Moonstone is a gem found mainly in Sri Lanka, Myanmar, India, and Madagascar. It is known to calm your emotions without you having to repress them. Useful for people who keep things bottled up inside to protect themselves, it helps us be in touch with emotions that we are sometimes scared to acknowledge. Said to enhance our feminine side, Moonstone brings us in touch with our intuition, gentleness, and compassion. That does not mean that Moonstone is only useful for women. All men have feminine aspects to them, yet some men are afraid to reveal this, thinking that it will diminish their masculine identity. Moonstone helps them to embrace and control their feminine aspects.

Moonstone is also believed to aid in matters of love and fertility. It is used to aid fertility and child birth, and to regulate the menstrual cycle. Its power is strongest during a full moon. In some cultures it is believed to bring new love into your life, or to reunite lovers after a quarrel. Perhaps Moonstone's ability to balance the emotional and the rational is the source of this power.

If you feel that you are too withdrawn and it is harming your relationships, maybe moonstone would be a great gem stone for you.

Do gem stones really have meaning?

A lot of people are skeptical about the healing powers and mystical powers of gem stones and crystals. How can an inanimate object possibly have power? Have can gem stones possibly have meaning? Well, there is no definite proof that gem stones have power and meaning. There is, however, a massive corpius of anecdotal evidence that indicates that gems have a powerful positive influence on peoples` lives.

I am noone to argue with the countless people throughout history who have been convinced of gem stones` power, but let`s imagine for a minute that gem stones have no physical power. Does that mean that gem stones have no meaning? Not at all! Gem stones have power to focus your thoughts and energy on what is really important to you in life. I once purchased a new tiger eye tumble stone for its power to strengthen conviction and confidence, and promote financial and professional success. Simply possessing that small tumble stone made me focus my mental energy on the self-improvement goals I had set for myself, to build confidence and use that confidence to build financial power. That mental energy translated into action, and I successfully improved my confidence and financial situation. The gem stone you choose, and its meaning, are symbols of and reminders of your commitment to improve your life.
